Bookish List

2019 Books that Have Me Feeling Curious

This year has just begun, so I thought it appropriate to kick things off with a list of book releases I’m looking forward to. I’m not one to make promises when it comes to books I’ll read because I like to read whatever I feel like whenever I feel like it. However, there are some 2019 books that have caught my eye, and I’m very eager to get my hands on them once they’re released. So in no particular order…

***

The Wicked King by Holly Black: I’ve read the Cruel Prince, which I enjoyed, so I thought “why not?”
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi: To be honest, a lot of YA historical fiction stories don’t keep my attention for long. For some reason, though, I’m looking forward to giving this book a chance.
The Kiss Thief by L.J. Shen: I don’t know what I was expecting when I saw the cover, but it wasn’t this blurb!
Rebel by Beverly Jenkins: I recently read three books by this author and found myself impressed at the research she seems to put into her work.
Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo: I haven’t read any stories with a K-pop protagonist. Colour me curious!
Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte: Just look at that cover. Need I say more?
The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee: Another YA historical fiction. However, this actually looks like something I’ll enjoy.
Queen of Ruin by Tracy Banghart: I’m glad this is the final book. I liked Grace and Fury, but I’m glad the plot is not going to be dragged forever, because I really hate it when authors do that.
A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole: I’d been seeing the other books in this series everywhere, so I recently gave in to the temptation and got them. While I haven’t started them yet, I’m thinking I’ll order this one when it comes out.
The Bride Test by Helen Hoang: I’ve not read a lot of books featuring Vietnamese characters. Also, the storyline interests me. An arranged marriage? An autistic love interest? Count me in!
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo: Another gorgeous cover!
Descendant of the Crane by Joan He: Everything about this book calls to me. The blurb, the cover, everything.
Gentleman Sinner by Jodi Ellen Malpas: The first time I read a Jodi book was when I was still reeling from the Fifty Shades books. I didn’t pay much attention to her books last year, but 2019 will be different.
The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh: I haven’t read a vampire book in a while (did they go out of style?) so I’m looking forward to this.
Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams: To be honest, the author’s Goodreads biography caught my eye first. I’m not sure if I’ll get this book but for now, I’m interested.
Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas: Ms. Maas said this’ll be an adult fantasy. Considering how explicit her YA books have been, I wonder what will change. I enjoyed the ACOTAR series, though, so I will be reading this book.

So, there you have it! 2019 releases I expect great things from. Hopefully, they won’t let me down.

Which books are you looking forward to reading this year? Have you been lucky enough to acquire any of the books on my list?
